Something Old
I chose this image that I took of a family friend's dog at our property in Port Colborne, ON for a number of reasons. For one, dogs are pretty much my favorite thing in the world, but on a non-affectionate level I chose this photograph for its representation of my current photographic interests. I love slowing things down. I am diagnosed with ADHD and the majority of my time is spent jumping around ten different things inside my mind. It is so wonderful to be able to take what's going on around me at any given moment and freeze it to a point of 1/4000 of a second. It enables me to see just one thing, even if its just for thirty seconds or a minute while I look at the photo and ponder how much I missed that was right in front of me in that half a second or less of overthinking things jumping around my head. What makes it most interesting to me is that when movement we might see every day is slowed down so much, it brings an almost abstract sense of shape, color, design and composition to the photo. I find design fascinating, and though it may be a unique inspiration for design, to me, when you slow down the world around you there is more inspiration that one could ask for. I plan to major in both studio art and computer science, and plan to continue to draw inspiration from high speed photos in order to jump into the asthetic side of computer programming/design.,
